Trucking cost per mile calculator
What does one mile cost your truck? Add what you pay every month and what you pay per mile. You get your cost per mile and the lowest rate per mile worth taking. The figures below are examples: put in your own.
Divide by all miles, empty ones included: the truck costs the same whether it is loaded or not. Run fewer miles and every mile costs more, because the monthly costs are spread thinner.
How it is worked out
Fixed costs per mile = everything you pay each month whether the truck moves or not, divided by the miles you run in a month.
Running costs per mile = diesel price ÷ miles per gallon, plus driver pay per mile, plus maintenance and tires per mile.
Cost per mile = fixed + running. Add the profit you want per mile to get the lowest rate worth taking, then check each load with the rate per mile calculator.
